Cancelling & applying for a refund of registration
Dealers wishing to cancel a registration and/or apply for a refund may do so by completing the Dealer application to cancel registration - Dealer Certification Scheme form.
Once completing the
Dealer application to cancel registration - Dealer Certification Scheme form it must be faxed to the state in which the vehicle is registered.
- The vehicle must be registered in the name of the Dealer.
- The number plates must be destroyed by cutting them into not less than three equal pieces.
- Victorian number plates and/or the Application to Cancel Registration form should not be returned to a VicRoads Office. Interstate number plates should be returned to a VicRoads Customer Service Centre to obtain evidence that they have been returned to a Registration Authority.
- For Victorian registration the form must be submitted toVicRoads, all other state and territory registration refund request must be directed to the state or territory to which the vehicle is registered in.
