Changing or cancelling your appointment with more than 24 hours’ notice means:
- paying for another appointment fee when changing the appointment to a new time
- the appointment can only be changed by the appointment holder
- when cancelling the appointment, getting a refund of the inspection fee (if applicable).
With less than 24 hours' notice, it means you forfeit all fees paid and are not eligible for a refund.
Late arrivals may be rescheduled to the next available slot, with an additional fee required.
Step 2: Before the appointment get a certificate of roadworthiness
Get a certificate of roadworthiness before your registration appointment.
If you’ve got a brand-new vehicle you won’t need to get a certificate of roadworthiness unless you’re registering a taxi.
A brand-new vehicle means:
- it’s never been registered in Australia
- any kilometres on the speedometer are from the sale and delivery to the owner before registering.
Step 3: Get all the information you need
It’s important to gather everything you need before attending your booking.
This includes:
If someone else registers on your behalf they'll need to bring an original and signed authority to act as an agent form [PDF 253 Kb].
You'll need additional documents to register if your vehicle is imported, has been modified or written off.
