Here's how dealers can manually register a new or used vessel (boat).

Register a new or used vessel (boat) manually

  • Have a VicRoads delegate inspect the vehicle. No inspection fee is required to submit registrations for processing but the boat must be in a seaworthy condition.
  • Complete ALL sections of the vessel registration form. including the following information:
    • name and address of the registered operator
    • confirmed client ID or licence number
    • boat type and colour
    • hull manufacturer's name and construction material
    • overall length and breadth
    • engine number, make and type (inboard or outboard)
    • engine fuel type and power units
    • previous registration number (if any).
  • Attach the barcode to the top right-hand corner of the application.
  • Complete the registration label.
  • Complete the manual registration summary statement.
  • Total all fees including the administration fee for each vessel/boat.
  • Mail all registration forms and payment (by cheque or credit card) to VicRoads within 48 hours (two working days) in the “WHITE” prepaid envelope.

What needs to be sent to VicRoads (White envelope)

Keep a copy of all documentation at the dealership for auditing purposes.

A registration label must be attached to the vessel and be clearly visible before it is used.
