Helping disadvantaged young people gain supervised driving experience
There are four units of the Bike Ed school program. Each unit is designed to be run across 8-10 classes (approximately 45 minutes each) and is accompanied by a unit plan, full lesson plans and the teaching resources to run the activities.
Covers the basic skills of bike riding and road safety and apply these skills to simple scenarios within school grounds.

Students in Years 3 and 4 develop their riding and safety skills further and start to implement these to simple decisions on bike paths and footpaths. There are also classes and resources focused on dealing with hazards on paths and planning a journey. This culminates in a short class ride outside school using bike paths.
Students in Years 5 and 6 start working more independently to hone their riding skills, safety skills and make road user decision on roads and intersections. There are also classes and resources focused on dealing with hazards on roads and planning a journey. This culminates in a two class rides outside school using quiet roads.
Students in secondary school work more independently to hone their riding skills and on-road safety skills and behaviours. This culminates in two class rides outside the school.
