Get help to stay mobile with a disability

Find practical and financial support to help you stay mobile with a disability. 

Practical support

To find out more about driving with a disability and get practical support, you can: 

• visit the Disabled Motorists Australia website

• consult a registered occupational therapy driver assessor.

Disability parking permit

To apply for a Disabled Parking Permit, contact your local council (External link). For more information, see disability parking.

Financial support

Under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), you may be eligible for funding to help you stay mobile, including help with:

• vehicle modifications
• associated driving lessons and assessments.

If your disability was caused by an accident, you may be eligible for financial compensation or support through WorkCover (External link) the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) or your personal injury insurer.
