Motorcycles
Here’s how dealers can register a new motorcycle using myVicRoads partner account.
These vehicles are considered as motorcycles: standard motorcycles, recreational motorcycles and farm motorcycles ("farm bikes").
Register a new motorcycle
- Log on to myVicRoads partner account and click on ‘Motorcycle’.
- Obtain evidence of identity documents.
- Record the correct garage address to calculate the correct registration amount.
- Make sure that the registration date is the date when the motorcycle will be delivered to the customer.
- The year of manufacture and the compliance plate date are taken from the RAV date of entry. For example, for the entry 01/08/2021 the year of manufacture is 2021 and the compliance plate date is 08/2021.
- As recreational motorcycles are non-compliant, they won't have a RAV entry so the year of manufacture must be 1900 and the compliance plate date must be 01/1900.
- The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be 17 digits long. All compliant vehicles manufactured after 1989 must be stamped with a unique 17-digit alpha-numeric vehicle identification number (VIN) and have a compliance plate. For recreational motorcycles record the chassis number instead of a VIN.
- Enter the complete engine number including the prefix.
- Make sure the model is recorded exactly as it appears on the vehicle’s compliance plate.
- Select the correct registration code. Refer to the below motorcycle codes and fees section for more information.
- Select the correct TAC code. Refer to the TACfor more information.
- Email a copy of the completed dealer online authority to register form, which includes the correct year of manufacture, to [email protected].
When the vehicle has been registered on the myVicRoads partner account, mail these documents to VicRoads in the yellow pre-paid envelope at the end of the week (Friday):
Keep a copy of all documentation at the dealership for auditing purposes.
Before you can use your vehicle on a road or public space, it must be registered and number plates attached.
